Ashleigh started adorning her body when she was just fifteen
years old , hanging around the tattoo shop until they
eventually gave her a job piercing other young girls who
wanted pierced ears, belly buttons and tongues etc.
Ashleigh considers her tattoos as merely an extension of
using make-up, sees them as beautiful and intends to cover
her whole body, not only with tattoos but with implants and
piercings. In the future, she intends to have scarification on
her arms “to look like a Zulu warrior”.
When Ashleigh is out in public, people come up to her and
try to touch her, attracted by the colours and designs that
encircle her neck. She calls these people “perverts” and
“creeps” and doesn’t understand why they see her as
“different”.
